Terms of use
Last changed 26 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between your company and Duckt, the New Zealand business that makes Muto, for using Muto while it’s in alpha. They’re written to be read. If anything isn’t clear, email hello@muto.cloud.
1. Who these terms are between
When your company joins Muto, the person who sets it up accepts these terms for the company, and confirms they’re allowed to. In these terms, “you” means your company and the people it invites, and “we” means Duckt.
2. The alpha
- Muto is free while it’s in alpha.
- It’s still being finished. Things will change, some may break, and we can’t promise it will always be available.
- Keep your own copies of anything important: every document downloads as a PDF, and every sheet as Excel or a PDF.
- Before paid plans start, we’ll tell your company’s admins the price at least 30 days ahead. You then choose whether to pay or stop. Nothing is ever charged unless you choose to pay.
3. Muto is for businesses
Muto is for use in a business. Because you’re using it for your business, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 doesn’t apply to it.
4. Your company’s account
- Your company’s account admin looks after the account: who is in it, what each person can do, and taking people out when they leave.
- Everyone keeps their own sign-in details safe and doesn’t share them. If you think someone else has got into an account, tell us straight away at support@muto.cloud.
- You’re responsible for what the people you invite do in Muto.
5. Your documents stay yours
- Everything your company puts in Muto stays yours.
- You let us store it, copy it and show it to the people you choose, only so that Muto works for you. We don’t sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI.
- Our people don’t open it, except Muto support when one of your admins lets them in, for as long as that admin chooses. Security and your data says how that works.
- You need the right to put in what you put in. For example, don’t add pictures or text you aren’t allowed to use.
6. Using Muto fairly
Please don’t:
- use Muto to break the law, or put anything unlawful or harmful in it;
- try to get into accounts, companies or parts of Muto that aren’t yours, or test Muto’s security without asking us first;
- overload Muto, or use robots or scripts to copy what’s in it;
- sell access to Muto to anyone else, or copy Muto to build something that competes with it.
7. Stopping
- You can stop using Muto at any time: email hello@muto.cloud.
- We can end your company’s use of Muto with 30 days’ notice, or straight away if these terms are seriously broken or the law requires it.
- When your company’s use ends, its people can still read its work for 30 days, so you can download your copies. Then the account closes, and the work is deleted 90 days after the end.
- Your company’s account admin can ask us by email to delete it sooner. Our privacy policy says how.
8. What we’re responsible for
- We work hard to keep Muto running and your work safe. But while it’s in alpha, Muto is provided as it is, without any promise that it suits a particular purpose or never fails.
- We aren’t responsible for indirect losses, such as lost profits or lost business, or for losing work you could have kept a copy of.
- As far as the law allows, our total responsibility to your company under these terms is limited to NZ$100.
- Nothing in these terms takes away a right that the law says can’t be taken away.
9. Your ideas
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to make Muto better, without owing you anything for them. We’re grateful for every one.
10. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. We’ll tell your company’s admins at least 14 days before a change that matters takes effect. If you keep using Muto after that, the new terms apply.
11. The law
New Zealand law governs these terms, and New Zealand’s courts decide any dispute about them. Before anyone goes to court, we’d like to talk it through: email hello@muto.cloud.
12. Contact
Duckt, New Zealand. Email hello@muto.cloud.
